Avasi Lookout Tower

One of Miskolc’s most distinctive buildings is the 72-metre-high Avasi Lookout Tower, built in 1963 on the hillside rising beside the city centre. Designed by Miklós Hofer and György Vörös, the concrete tower has become one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks. Earlier wooden lookouts once stood on this same site and in the surrounding area.

From the observation deck, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Miskolc and the surrounding Bükk Mountains—a perspective that’s truly one of a kind.

✨ Entry is free, and there’s a café on the upper level where you can relax and take in the view.

🧭 The tower is accessible on foot via a staircase that climbs the hillside next to the historic Avas Church, passing the Avas wine cellars along the way.
